About Clare Sharpen
Having run a £500k turnover social enterprise providing employment and training to long-term unemployed, homeless people and refugees, I know first hand the many challenges of running a social enterprise. I have worked as an interim chief executive in a medium sized charity in southeast London, served as a non-exec director for a social enterprise for 6 years and as a charity trustee for 3 different charities over several years, so I bring a broad range of experience gained at a senior level.
I started my management career working in logistics for Boots the Chemist and transferred my management skills into the social enterprise world in 2003. As a passionate advocate for the benefits of social enterprise, I supported hundreds of social enterprises and charities whilst leading the training and organisational development department within GLE Consulting. My strong track record in project management includes the successful delivery of a £3.5m project providing support to small businesses in London.
I am a CIPD qualified trainer, hold an MA in Social Anthropology from the University of Cambridge and an MSc in Development Management from the Open University.
Alongside my professional work I:
am actively involved in my church community at Grace Church Greenwich
actively support the Friends of the Free School SE14
am a Mum to 3 noisy young children, who provide the biggest management challenge of all...
